Ghast Portal Death Mechanic

Prime Vanilla uses a custom plugin that causes ghasts to die when they enter Nether portals. This unique mechanic can be exploited for automated ghast farming.

How the Mechanic Works​

The server runs a plugin that detects when ghasts enter portals and handles them specially:

  1. Portal Travel: When a ghast enters a Nether portal, it travels through to the Overworld.

  2. Instant Death: The ghast dies immediately upon arriving in the Overworld side of the portal.

  3. Item Drops: Upon death, the ghast drops:

    • 2-3 Ghast Tears (randomly determined)
    • 2-3 Gunpowder (randomly determined)

  4. Drop Location: The items drop in the Overworld at the portal location.

Important Notes​

  • AFK Location: You only need to AFK on the Nether side where ghasts spawn and enter the portal.

  • Collection System: Place a hopper minecart under the Overworld portal - this is the best way to collect all the dropped items efficiently.

This mechanic is specific to Prime Vanilla and is implemented through a custom server plugin to enable unique farming opportunities while maintaining game balance.
